Mental Exercise: Squeezing Out the Creative Juices

Did you know that writing poems, songs, short stories, and all other literary pieces, helps improve mental health? Yes, it’s true! Being able to express yourself is evidence of a clear mind. It can also help in improving your emotional state, by allowing you to process your emotions well enough, and having an outlet to convey them.

Here at The Fit Stewards, we will post some of our compositions from time to time. We hope that these will minister to you just as they did for us.

Today, we are posting our very first poem. It is dedicated to all followers of Christ, whether in ministry or otherwise.

We know that there are times when it seems so difficult for us to accomplish what God has set out for us to do and we come to a place of weariness or even exhaustion. We feel you, and God understands. So, we pray that this poem will speak to all of us and encourage us in deep and meaningful ways.

Burnout

Today, I hope to hear Your voice
To help me get through all the noise
There are just too many things ahead
That makes me want to stay in bed

Why does it feel like a burden
Doing these things all of a sudden
I used to love all that I do
But lately, they seem to make me feel blue?

Did I stop believing?
Or have I always been pretending?
But I know that the joy was true
And I really wanted to be with You

I want that joy back, I want the peace
I want the feeling of being at ease
I want the comfort, to say the least
I just don’t know how, help me please?

My child, I know what is in your heart
I know everything from the very start
I know what happened along the way
And I just have these words to say

I know you want to honor Me
But know that you have to let Me be
The One Who’ll make this work for you
Count on My power to see you through

Your work is truly commendable
And I know that you are reliable
But do not do this on your own
You need to surrender this on My throne

In everything that you will do
Remember that it is Me, and not you
Who will make it all work out
So that you will not burn out

Your willingness is all I need
Your joy in planting all the seeds
I am the One Who’ll make them grow
So just relax, and watch the show

When you feel like it's getting heavy
And the work you do now is no longer easy
Remember that my yoke is light
Because I want your days to be bright

Surrender them, My little child
Give them to me, and you won’t get tired
And remember that in all that you do
I will always be proud of you
