We live in a world where change is constant. They even say that it is the most permanent thing in the world. With this reality, it is so easy to be confused, anxious, or even depressed. Without something that we could set as our anchor, we will never have an assurance of what is to come. We will always doubt. We will never have peace. That is why, in this kind of world, having the “God of Always” on our side is a great relief.
The significance of God being the “God of Always” is profound because it means that who He is never changes. We can trust that His presence never fades and His promises never fail. In all the uncertainties we face, here are reasons why we must hang on to Him, the God we can always count on to be there.
We Live in a World of Change
Everything around us shifts—people change, circumstances vacillate, and emotions rise and fall. Consider the people you met or fellowshipped with last year. They may not be in your life anymore today. They could have moved elsewhere or even passed on. New ones will soon replace our politicians in the coming elections. Currencies and economies go up and down. We could be happy today, and tomorrow, we could be in deep sorrow. Anything can change in just a blink of an eye. But God remains constant. In Malachi 3:6, He said, “I the Lord do not change.” In a world of uncertainty, He is our unshakable foundation (Psalm 18:2).
Human Love and Commitment are Conditional
People walk away. Friendships break. Promises are forgotten. These are sad realities of life. Even the very people who seemed to have placed us in the center of their world could eventually break our hearts. We are flawed beings who are prone to hurt others and also to get hurt by them. How easy will “love” fly out the window when that happens? But God’s love is not based on conditions—He is always loving, forgiving, and faithful (Romans 8:38-39). Even when we fail, He never gives up on us. He loves us with a perfect love, a love like no other.
We are not Always Faithful
We doubt, we stumble, and we fall short. Even as Christians, we keep falling into sin, albeit unintentionally. Our walk is not consistent. At times, we seem to be so strong, and the next minute, we are falling away. We break our commitments, and we get caught in the allure and glimmers of this world. If God’s faithfulness is dependent on our performance, we are doomed. Gladly, it isn’t. 2 Timothy 2:13 says that though “we are faithless, He remains faithful for He cannot deny Himself.” He is not just the God of our best days—He is also the God of our weakest moments. When we return to Him, His arms are always open (Luke 15:20).
We need a Constant Source of Strength
Life brings storms—pain, loss, struggles, and disappointments. We do not always feel strong enough to face what comes our way. Some days, we are filled with courage, but on some, we feel like giving up. Thankfully, God is always near. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.” He is the one who holds us up when we cannot stand on our own. We do not have to fear tomorrow because He will be there too! (Deuteronomy 31:8).
His Promises are not Temporary
People often make promises they cannot keep, and circumstances sometimes make it impossible to hold on to human assurances. But God’s promises remain forever and He is a Promise-Keeper. Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” What He has spoken will always come to pass, no matter how much time has passed. His mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), which means we will never run out of the grace that we need in every moment. Even when we don’t understand His ways, we can trust that His plans for us are not abandoned (Jeremiah 29:11).
He is not just the God of the Past or Future—He is the God of Now
God is not just someone who acted in history or will reign in the future—He is also the God of this moment. He was there before creation, from eternity past (Genesis 1:1) and will reign forever (Revelation 1:8) towards the eternity future. But beyond that, He is here with us right now. He is always listening, always speaking, and always moving in our lives. We do not have to wait for a future moment to experience Him—He is already present, working in ways we may not even see.
The Comfort of an “Always” God
Life is full of uncertainties. People change, circumstances shift, and even our own hearts waver. That is why knowing God as the “God of Always” is such a powerful truth. He is not bound by time, emotions, or circumstances. His love is not conditional. His promises are not temporary. His presence is not dependent on how we feel. He is always who He says He is—faithful, near, and unchanging and He will always do what He says He will do, forever.
Seasons will come and go. People may fail us. Our own strength will run out. But God? He will never stop being who He has always been.
When we feel lost—He is ALWAYS guiding.
When we feel broken—He is ALWAYS healing.
When we feel forgotten—He is ALWAYS remembering.
When we feel weak—He is ALWAYS strong.
That’s why this truth matters. Because if He were not the God of “always,” we could never be sure of anything in this fallen world. But since He is who He says He is, we can rest in the truth that we are always loved, always seen, and always secure in Him.
May the God of Always be with you today!
